Both the chest panel and the back panel are made of medium-density foam, and a hard plastic insert reinforces the sternum guard. Plastic inserts are also located in the bicep guards and the shoulder caps. These shoulder pads have 1.5" elastic straps around the chest to keep the fit secure.
